Good-bye didn’t come easily Saturday night for the seniors of the Barnsdall High School boys’ basketball team after they played their final home game.

But, it did come sweetly.

Paced by senior Christian Warford with 20 points, the Panthers romped past Porter High School, 55-36, in their District 2A championship game, hosted by Barnsdall.

“I’m proud of the boys’ effort tonight,” said veteran Barnsdall head coach Clifton Warford. “It was nice to win the seniors’ last-ever home game.”

Junior Braden Kelley added 15 points, followed by junior Heath Moles with nine points, junior Michael Marin with four, senior Derek Wilson with three, senior Ely Reese with three and sophomore Keegan Marin with one.

Christian Warford also amassed five rebounds and five assists, while Kelley pulled down six boards.

Moles fingered 10 rebounds; Wilson contributed four assists and four boards.

Marin contributed five steals.

Barnsdall claimed a district title for the second-straight year and nailed down their 21st season victory.

“But, we’re not done yet,” said coach Warford, looking ahead to the regional playoffs. “We have our eyes on a much bigger prize.”

Porter trailed by 20 after three periods, 44-24, and it was cruise control time for the home team.
