Wyandotte logs sweep over Foyil

WYANDOTTE — Wyandotte coasted to a sweep in a baseball double-header against Foyil here Monday, April 9.

The 2A No. 14 Bears (13-5) rolled to a 16-6 win in the opener then came back for a 13-3 decision in the nightcap.

Wyandotte sent 13 batters to the plate and scored nine times in the bottom of the third inning in the opener.

Cole Dixon had a two-run double and Ryan Cooper added a two run single to key the inning.

Cody Teal plated a run with a base hit and two runs scored when a fly ball by Brendan Cooper was misplayed.

Foyil jumped out to a4-0 lead in the top of the first and led 5-2 heading into the second.

Wyandotte’s offense came to life, getting three runs in the second and opened up a 14-4 lead with the big third inning.

WHS picked up its final two runs in the fourth.

Dixon went 3-for-4 with a double and six RBIs in the game and Jordon Burney was 3-for-3.

Zach Garrett and Teal finished with two singles each and Ryan Cooper and Mike Lawson each had a single.

Foyil (5-13) picked up a double and two singles from Caden Miller and Kodey Shoemaker and Matt Dennis chipped in with two singles each.

The Bears scored in all four of its at-bats in the five-inning second game.

They were up 6-0 only to have Foyil get two runs in the third.

Wyandotte countered with a run in the third and came up with another six in the fourth frame.

Burney delivered a triple and single to head up the Bears’ offense. Lawson had two singles.

Ryan Cooper, Dixon, Ethan Innis and Cade Lofland all had a single.


Wyandotte played Colcord and Oaks, then travels to Salina for a three-way that includes Dewey on Saturday, April 14.
