Panthers second in tournament

The Barnsdall Panthers lost a narrow decision Saturday to the Tonkawa Buccaneers, 2-1, and finished second to the Bucs in the North Country Baseball Conference tournament.

Nonethless, the Panthers performed well at the tournament and then won a home game Monday against Caney Valley to extend their season record to 13-6. Coach Wade Corder’s crew was slated to make a trip Tuesday to Caney Valley to try and pick up another win.

Including two wins on March 15, the Panthers had been 11-3 since mid-March as they headed into their road game Tuesday. When they’re playing their best, Barnsdall brings a mixture of speed and timely hitting to the offensive side of things.

The Panthers are scheduled for district play on April 18 and have several more regular season games before then. Those regular season games include a rematch against Sperry, which beat Barnsdall 13-0 on March 18.
