Pawhuska baseball runs record to 10-5

The Pawhuska Huskies baseball team improved its record to 10-5 with a 10-0 victory over Shidler on April 3 and a 3-1 win over Shidler on Monday.

The Huskies have won four consecutive games for the first time this season.

The Huskies travel to Bartlesville for a 4 p.m. game Friday against the Bruins junior varsity. They are scheduled to play at Sperry at 4:30 p.m. Monday and at Wesleyan Christian in Bartlesville at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Pawhuska 3, Shidler 1

Ryan Jones pitched all seven innings for the Huskies on Monday. He allowed three hits. The Shidler run was unearned. He struck out 11 and walked one.

Jones threw 104 pitchers and 72 went for strikes.

Easton Kirk went 1 for 3 at the plate. He scored a run and plated a run. Braydon Wilson also was credited with an RBI.

The game was scoreless until the fifth when the Huskies pushed two runs across. Shidler scored once in the top of the sixth, and the Huskies added an insurance run in the bottom of that frame.

In the bottom of the fifth, Gabe Letzkus was hit by a pitch to start the inning. Easton Kirk drew a walk, putting runners on first and second. Randsom Jones reached on an error to load the bases with one out. Letzkus scored on Braydon Wilson’s fly out to right. Kirk would score on an error by the Shidler catcher. Hunter Reed doubled but Jones was out at the plate.

Pawhuska 10, Shidler 0

The Huskies scored two runs in the first, two more in the third and exploded for six in the fifth inning.

Braydon Wilson started on the mound. He allowed 1 hit and a walk. Randsom Jones came on in the third. He didn’t allow any hits and struck out three.

Cade McNeil went 2-for-3 at the plate. He scored three times and picked up an RBI. Wilson went for 1-for-3 and had two RBI, while Hunter Reed went 1-2 with two RBI.

Easton Kirk and McNeill were hit by pitches to start the top of the fifth. Randsom Jones earned a walk to load the bases with no outs. Kirk scored when Wilson grounded out to shortstop. Reed singled to short, scoring McNeil and Jones reached third. Reed advanced to second on a error by the Shidler catcher. R.J. McCann drew a two-out walk, and stole second. Reed scored when Isaiah Walker hit a ground ball to third that was misplayed. McCann moved to third. McCann and Walker scored when Gabe Letzkus hits a line drive to right, which was misplayed.
