Barnsdall High baseball goes 1-4 to start season

The Barnsdall High School baseball team recorded a 1-4 record as the high school baseball season gets underway. The Panthers lost to Regent Prep, split with Caney Valley and lost to Tonkawa and Rejoice Christian.

Barnsdall scored six runs in the second inning and four in the third in the 13-4 win over Caney Valley on Thursday. Michael Marin, James Cole and Welsey Yarber picked up 3 RBIs each in the game.

The Panthers were scheduled to play Rejoice Christian on the road Tuesday. They were scheduled to face Summit Christian Academy on Thursday.

Rejoice Christian 16, Barnsdall 7

Rejoice Christian surged to a 10-3 lead after two innings, and held off a Barnsdall rally to claim a 16-7 victory over the Panthers Tuesday in Barnsdall

Barnsdall scored two in the third and singletons in the fourth and fifth to draw within three runs, 10-7. However, Rejoice Christian exploded for six runs in the top of the sixth to claim victory.

Barnsdall used five pitchers in the game. Joseph Cole came on in relief of Michael Marin in the second inning. Joseph Cole pitched 2.1 innings. Rejoice Christian pitcher Jonathan Deltrick picked up the win.

Barndall’s Christian Minton doubled and picked up two RBIs. Joseph Cole also plated two. Once again, the Panthers stole a lot of bases, picking up 10 steals. James Cole and Braden Kelley led the steal parade with Three apiece.


Caney Valley 2, Barnsdall 1

Caney Valley scored single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to record the 2-1 win over Barnsdall on Friday.

The game was tied at 1-1 when Caney Valley scored in the sixth.

Barnsdall’s Reese Robbins scored in the fifth. He reached on an error. Price’s sacrifice bunt sent Robbins to second. He advanced to third on a single by Braden Kelley and scored on James Cole’s sacrifice fly.


Barnsdall 13, Caney Valley 4

Barnsdall trailed 3-2 after the first inning, but the Panthers rallied for six runs in the second and never trailed again on Thursday.

In the pivotal second inning, Reese Robbins reached on an error. Christian Minton drew a walk. Garrett Wright grounded to first to advance both runners. Robbins and Minton scored on Braden Kelley’s single. James Cole drew a base on balls. He advanced to third on Michael Marin’s single. Marin, then stole second. Kelley, Cole and Marin scored on Wesley Yarber’s single. Yarber stole second and scored on consecutive errors by Caney Valley.

James Cole doubled in the game. Keegan Marin picked up 2 RBIs and Kelley had one to go with the three RBIs each by M. Marin, James Cole and Yarber.

Michael Marin had three stolen bases. Kelley had two and James Cole, Joseph Cole, K. Marin, Will Price and Garrett Wright had a stole base each.


Regent Prep 6, Barnsdall 1

Regent Prep jumped out to a 4-0 led in the first. They scored two in the second and one in the third. Barnsdall’s lone score came in the fourth.

In the fourth, James Cole doubled to start the inning. He advanced to third on Joseph Cole’s single, and scored on Reese Robbin’s sacrifice bunt.
