The Pawhuska Lady Huskies softball season ended Friday with two losses in the Class 2A regionals in Drumright.

The Lady Huskies swept Hominy in the district tournament 17-3 and 7-3 to reach regional play. Pawhuska ran into some fine pitching in a 6-0 loss to Mounds and a 4-0 loss to Drumright at regionals.

It was a rough season for the Lady Huskies, who didn’t have a softball field for practices or games because a capped well at the softball field started leaking methane gas. It has been recapped and the field is being rehabbed.

Pawhuska started slowly, but the pieces started to fall into place as September rolled around. Pawhuska picked up its first win on Aug. 31, when it defeated Class A Garber 7-6. The Lady Huskies sent 3-4 over the last seven games of the regular season. Their final season record was 5-16 under first-year coach Tara Malaske.
