PHS basketball squads fall to Dale

CLEVELAND — Pawhuska High School basketball squads won the opening tipoffs, and not much else, in Thursday’s 2A Regional basketball matchups against their highly-ranked opponents from Dale.

After claiming a District championship the previous Saturday, the Lady Huskies managed just two points in each of the first two quarters in a lopsided 61-18 loss to Dale’s No. 1-rated Lady Pirates. Pawhuska’s boys didn’t fare much better versus the No. 4-ranked Dale Pirates, falling by a score of 79-43.

On Friday, the PHS girls ended an 11-15 season with a loss, 66-30, to the Warner Lady Eagles (19-8). The Lady Huskies trailed 31-21 at halftime, but were outscored, 35-9, over the last two periods.

Later on Friday, the Huskies staved off elimination with an overtime victory against the Liberty Tigers.
