Pawhuska High School is scheduled to hold two home track meets next week, using its brand-new track and related facilities. The junior high school meet is to be held Tuesday, April 2, and the high school meet is to be held Thursday, April 4.

Both the track events and the field events are slated to begin at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, for the junior high meet. The field events are to begin at 9:30 a.m. Thursday for the high school meet, while the track events are to begin at 9:45 a.m.

Pawhuska High School has a new 8-lane polyurethane track, as well as new pole vault and long jump areas.

PHS track coach Mark Frye said Tuesday he anticipates probably about 12-15 schools will participate in the Pawhuska meets, but clarified he won’t really know until the morning of competition when schools show up.

The PHS girls team was in heated competition Tuesday afternoon in a meet at Dewey and needed to win the last race of the meet in order to win the whole thing.
