Registration continuing for youth football camp
Registration is underway for the upcoming Big T Sports and Athletics Youth Football Camp on Saturday, July 23, at Ormand Beach Memorial Stadium.
The noncontact camp for first- through sixth-graders lasts from 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. Cost is $95 per camper.
Serving as instructors will be several former players and coaches from National Football League teams, the University of Oklahoma Sooners and Oklahoma State Cowboys, according to Joe Tillman, the camp’s organizer.
Pat Jones, Oklahoma State’s head coach from 1984 to 1994, will be guest speaker, Tillman added. More recently, Jones served as an NFL assistant coach.

This will be the second straight year for the Big T camp. More than 80 campers attended the inaugural event in July 2015.
“Our goal remains the same: To help the youngest football players learn proper football fundamentals,” said Tillman, the recently-hired head football coach at Pawhuska High School, the second-annual camp. Pawhuska High School head coach
Tillman, the new head football coach of the Pawhuska High School Huskies, added instruction will be tailored to the specific skill level of each camper. The primary goal is to encourage youngsters to “be active, have fun and most importantly — stay safe,” he added.
Other camp instructors are to include former Oklahoma State and NFL quarterback Rusty Hilger, ex-OU quarterback Thomas Lott and multi-talented Melvin Gilliam, who started for OSU teams in both football and basketball. Ex-collegiate and pro players Mark Moore, Terry Peters, Tony Peters, Lewis Blackwell and Mike Hudson will also be instructing.
Campers are to receive lunch, a commemorative T-shirt, bag and water bottle, as well as a copy of Thomas Lott’s book, “Getting in the Game.”
