Former Oklahoma State University coach Pat Jones will be guest speaker for Big T ‘s 2016 Youth Football Camp, which is set for Saturday, July 23, at Ormand Beach Memorial Stadium.

The local camp for first- through seventh-graders is being held for the second year. It is sponsored by Big T Sports, an organization formed by the Pawhuska High School Huskies’ recently-designated head coach, Joe Tillman.

“I’m very excited about having coach Jones here to help with our camp,” Tillman said.

Last July, more than 80 youngsters attended the inaugural camp, which featured a blue-ribbon coaching staff that included former Oklahoma Sooners’ quarterback Thomas Lott, as well as other ex-collegiate stars Mark Moore, Mike Hudson, Terry Peters and Tony Peters.

In addition to many returning coaches, this year’s staff is expected to include ex-OSU quarterback Rusty Hilger and defensive back Melvin Gilliam.

While with the Cowboys from 1984 to 1994, Jones coached Hall of Fame running backs Thurman Thomas and Barry Sanders, the 1988 Heisman Trophy winner. Jones also coached at Arkansas, Southern Methodist, Pittsburgh and was an NFL assistant with the Miami Dolphins from 1996 to 2003 and the Oakland Raiders from 2004-06.

The Big T Sports Camp is scheduled to last from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. It will stress football fundamentals and safety issues. Deadline for registrations is July 20. Cost is $95 per camper, which includes all fees, lunch, a T-shirt and water bottle.
