Osage Steer Roping Club to hold finals

The finals of the Osage Steer Roping Club’s 2015 season are to be held Friday evening and Saturday at Bar K Arena, with the OSRC Awards Banquet set for Saturday evening.

Roping is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Friday, with three C Division rounds preceding three rounds for the B Division ropers. The Osage County club’s top ropers will start Saturday’s competition at Bar K as the first three A Division rounds are to get underway at 10 a.m. B Division Rounds 4 through 6 are to follow, with the fourth-through-sixth rounds of C Division after that. Three final rounds of the A Division contestants will then wrap up the club’s year of roping.

The 2015 Awards Banquet of the Osage Steer Roping Club is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. Saturday in Osage County Fairgrounds’ Women’s Building.

Going into the finals, Chet Herren of Pawhuska is holding a slim 5-point lead (126.5 to 121.5) over Darrin Suit in the OSRC’s A Division. Herren currently ranks No. 10 in the PRCA’s Steer Roping World Standings.

Matt Garrett of Barnsdall has an even slimmer lead in the B Division, as his 134.5 total is just one point better than Bobby Brock (133.5). Kaw City’s Jake Christenson (106.5 points) is third among the B Division ropers and Kelton McMillen of Paden is fourth.

Pawhuskan Justin Carr, with 95 points, leads the club’s C Division by 15 points, while Robert Fudge of Skiatook (80 points) is in second place. Carr will start the finals tied with McMillen (each have 95 season points) in the race for OSRC Rookie of the Year.

Bar K Arena is located 13 miles southwest of Pawhuska.
