Lady Huskies U-14 soccer squad honored

Official representatives of an out-of-town youth sports organization recently went out of their way to recognize the unprecedented success of a Pawhuska girls soccer team.

The Under-14 Lady Huskies squad went undefeated en route to a first-place finish in a Washington County Soccer Club recreational league last spring.

On Thursday, the club’s president, Hosteen Walsh, and another club representative, Jennifer Frazier, visited Pawhuska to present the team with its trophies.

It was the Lady Huskies’ second perfect WCSC season. During the 2013 Spring Season, coach Duane Easley led the same group of girls to another undefeated, first-place finish.

The Lady Huskies were the first all-girls team from Pawhuska to go undefeated and be ranked first in the WCSC. The team also has been ranked second and third.

It also earned No. 3 ranking among Class 6A schools competing in the Metro Tulsa Soccer Club during the Fall 2013 and Spring 2014 seasons.

An additional impressive detail about the Lady Huskies is that most of the girls on the team are playing up an age bracket and are one or two years younger than the girls they are competing against.
