Registration deadline is approaching for an elite, one-day football camp for player prospects in grades one through six.

Big T Sports Youth Football Camp will be July 25 at Pawhuska’s Ormand Beach Memorial Stadium. It will begin at 8:30 a.m. and continue until 3 p.m., organizers said.

Joe Tillman, a longtime coach in the local elementary-age football program, is a driving force behind the Big T Sports camp.

“Our coaching staff will be comprised of former OU and OSU players, college-level coaches and former NFL stars,” Tillman said.

Organizers of the event said that camp spots are limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Cost is $85 per camper — which includes day-long fees, lunch, a T-Shirt, bag and water bottle.

The non-contact camp is being presented in conjunction with USA Football and Heads UP Coaching. It is designed to help the young players learn proper football fundamentals, according to Tillman.

“We want to help them be active, have fun and, most importantly, to stay safe,” the coach added.

Flyers for the Big T Camp indicate player and coaching representatives from the Seattle Seahawks, Washington Redskins, Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos and Cleveland Browns could be involved in the first-ever effort.

Camp organizers said pre-registration is preferred, although sign-ups will still be taken on the morning of the camp. In order to register for the event, persons should call 918-277-2538 or 918-287-7216. Applications for the camp can be downloaded at the event website: www.Bigtsportsandathletics.com

“We’re excited to be able to have a camp of this caliber here in Pawhuska,” Tillman said. “Our mission is to promote safety, technique and fundamentals for all youth football players. “
