Youth wrestlers earn state tourney entry

Pawhuska youth wrestlers concluded a successful season recently at the Oklahoma Kids Wrestling Association Open State Tournament in Tulsa.

Thirteen local matmen earned their way to the event with qualifying efforts in the OKWA Novice State Tournament at Oklahoma City.

Pawhuska 46-pound entry Logan Cass was the first-place winner in Division 1 of the Novice tourney.

Three other Pawhuskans placed in the OKC event’s 15-and-under competition: Thatcher Parker took fourth place in Division 2’s 61-pound class, Corlin Cass was a fourth-place finisher at 49 pounds in Division 2 and Lashano Wildcat finished sixth at 131 pounds in Division 3.

Additional state qualifiers from the elementary included: Kaden Hofer, 37 pounds-Division 1; Vana Wildcat, 60 pounds-Division 1; Witt Edwards, 83 pounds-Division 2, and Landon McCartney, 80 pounds-Division 4.

Local state qualifiers at the junior level included: Ryan Parks, 89 pounds-Division 5; Tristan McCartney, 125 pounds-Division 5; Logan Trammel, 140 pounds-Division 5, and Warren Graves, 162 pounds-Division 5.
