Pawhuska hoopsters working on skills

Pawhuska’s summer basketball schedule hit full swing this week as Coach Austin Minshall of the PHS Lady Huskies conducted a developmental skills camp for third- through six-graders Monday and Tuesday at Oren Terrill Field House.

The primary aim of the veteran Pawhuska coach was to teach fundamentals of basketball including footwork, shooting and ball handling, athleticism and defensive concepts and technique.

Earlier this summer, the Lady Huskies’ junior high and high school squads played a successful three-week summer league schedule in Barnsdall.

On Sunday, the PHS boys varsity squad of Coach Monty Unruh headed to Frontier to take part in a high school hoops camp. According to Unruh, approximately a dozen Huskie players were expected to make the trip.

The Frontier Boys’ Basketball Camp is scheduled to run through Wednesday.
