CLAREMORE — The Green Country Classic Ranch Rodeo will return to Claremore Expo on back-to-back nights this weekend.

Performances for the WRCA-sanctioned rodeo are set to begin at 7 p.m. Friday and 6 p.m. Saturday. This is the ninth year for the event to be held in Claremore.

Fifteen teams — including six from Osage County — will compete for cash and prizes in five ranch rodeo events: calf branding, doctoring, sorting, wild cow milking and ranch bronc riding.

Tickets for the event cost $10 and can be purchased at the event site or through several outlets that can be found on the GCCRR Facebook page.

In addition to the rodeo, Claremore Expo Hall is hosting a trade show with free public admission. Displayed for sale will be everything from saddles and custom made boots to clothing and home décor. Hours for the trade show are Friday from 3-10 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The Junior Ranch Rodeo Association will be sponsoring a youth ranch rodeo that begins at 11 a.m. Saturday in the indoor arena. Tickets for the JRRA event are $5 and can be purchased at the door.

Also, chances are to be sold on a pair of handmade spurs, with the proceeds of the sale going to benefit Oklahoma Blue Star Mothers.

Osage County ranches entered in the rodeo competitions include Buford Ranches, Chambers Ranch, Ford Drummond Ranch, Johnson Brothers, Drummond Land & Cattle and Chambers C Cross Ranch.
