House passed 185 Senate bills last week

We had another long deadline week last week, passing quite a few pieces of important legislation through the House and going late into the evening during a few of our sessions. Altogether we passed 185 Senate bills through the House last week including a bill that I handled.  

Senate Bill 211 modifies the duties and fees of the Oklahoma Board of Private Vocational Schools. Specifically, it allows the board to accept and approve applications for sustained licenses, conduct announced or unannounced site visits to an applicant or licensed school, invoice a travel fee to conduct site visits, and collect data required to be reported to the U.S. Department of Education, any state or federal agency or an accrediting organization. It also requires the board to develop and present optional training for schools emphasizing continuing development of school personnel and processes to address emerging issues. Lastly, the measure establishes new fees that the board may charge private schools or applicants for site visits, certain reviews and trainings. It passed the House 84-4 and will now be sent to the governor’s desk for consideration.

Additionally, the House and Senate redistricting maps were presented last week. Our district will pick up all of Pawhuska, Fairfax and all the way to Hominy. The estimated population for the district is 39,640, and it will be 1,491 square miles. I am very excited to represent all of Pawhuska and Fairfax!
