Lady Huskies drop close district matchup
The Pawhuska Lady Huskies lost a close home district tournament game Friday versus Tonkawa, by a score of 48-to-46. Trailing 45-39 late in the game, the Lady Huskies launched a comeback attempt that fell short.
Pawhuska had a strong first half, leading 28-21, at the intermission. Tonkawa gradually closed the gap and then, trailing 38-35, Tonkawa went on a 10-to-1 run.
Hannah Reynolds led the Lady Huskies in scoring with 14 points, including three three-pointers. Miya Curry scored 13 points and Shanell Cochrane contributed 8. Pawhuska played tough defense, blocking 4 shots and grabbing 14 steals. Fallon Bowman led the team in rebounds with 15.
The Lady Huskies, now 20-4 for the season, are scheduled to play in regional tournament action on Friday, Feb. 24 at 6 p.m. The loss to Tonkawa broke a seven-game winning streak for Pawhuska, going back to Jan. 21.
