Osage Nation Principal Chief Geoffrey M. Standing Bear has been selected for the Tinker Air Force Base Honorary Commander Program Class of 2018. The induction ceremony occurred at Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City on April 5.

The Honorary Commander Program is an outreach program for Tinker Air Force Base. As a member of the program, Chief Standing Bear will attend several events throughout the year. During the year, Chief Standing Bear will observe andexperience firsthand the vital work Tinker Air Force Base does for both the military and civilian populations, who make up their total force team.

“It is an honor to be nominated and selected into this position, and I look forward to working with Team Tinker on their diverse national defense mission,” said Standing Bear.

The Honorary Commander Program’s goals for the Class of 2018 is to develop integral interpersonal relationships. Osage Nation has a partnership business at Tinker Air Force Base, and this mission will require participation to learn and understand how each partner’s activities affect the community at Tinker Air Force Base.
