According to Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports, the accident occurred around 11:13 p.m. on State Highway 11, about 1.3 miles north of Skiatook in Tulsa County.

A 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Roy Roberts was southbound on State Highway 11 when it “departed the roadway to the left and struck a tree.” The vehicle then continued approximately 24 feet, before striking another tree, and coming to a rest. Roy and Cindy Roberts were then pinned for about 2 hours, 30 minutes before being extricated by members of Skiatook Fire Department using extrication devices.

They were summarily pronounced dead at the scene by Skiatook EMS Personnel and transported by Medical Examiner Sammi Richardson to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Tulsa.

Troopers listed both the condition of the driver at the time of the accident and the cause of the collision as “under investigation.”
