Free couch-to 5K-program starts Aug. 7 in Skiatook
Beginning Aug. 7, the Osage County Health Department is starting its fall session of LoCo Fit, the free couch – 5K walk/run program in Skiatook. LoCo Fit is a 12-week progressive walk and walk/run program that focuses on individualized pace groups set for all levels of fitness (beginning—advanced). LoCo Fitness was created to provide a way for community members to reach their individualized fitness goals while also learning important aspects of health and fitness.
This program is designed to increase physical fitness over a 12-week session by using a progressive workout schedule with mentor lead fitness groups ranging from beginning walk to advanced run. The program will meet every Tuesday/Thursday for 12 weeks for formal workouts at the Skiatook Central Park at 6 p.m. beginning Aug. 15. The schedule for LoCo Fit is as follows:
Aug. 7: Informational Meeting/registration, Skiatook Police Department board room, 6 p.m.
Aug. 10: Mentor Orientation, Skiatook Police Department board room, 6 p.m.
Aug 15: Pace Grouping/registration, Skiatook Central Park, 6 p.m.
