Osage Nation Museum prepares next exhibition

The Osage Nation Museum will be unveiling its next exhibition Sept. 28. “Harmony and Tradition works by Gina Gray” will run through March 31.

Osage artist Gina Gray (7/21/1954 – 12/20/2014) was known for her distinctive style of blending traditional context with contemporary style. Curator Hallie Winter said, “The ONM is humbled to honor Ms. Gray by presenting an assortment of her work. Our goal is to celebrate her life, commemorate her achievements, share her talent and honor her memory with this exhibition.”

Gray was a celebrated Native artist and her artwork has made its way into a multitude of homes. The Osage Nation Museum holds a collection of Gray’s work and is inviting other collectors of her work to share in this exhibition.

“While we have a strong collection here, we know there is much more out there. We are asking for individuals that may have a piece of Gina’s work to loan them to the ONM for inclusion in this exhibition. We welcome the chance to work with individual collectors in honoring the memory and work of such a brilliant individual. Community was important to Gina and it is appropriate that the celebratory exhibition in her home town be a community endeavor,” Winter said.

Gray was one of the most renowned Osage contemporary artists in the last four decades. Gray has won numerous awards for her artwork and has been featured in museums and galleries throughout the United States.
