Staff report

State troopers say driving under the influence of alcohol was the cause of a single-vehicle accident in Osage County Monday. According to reports from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the personal injury collision occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. on State Highway 18 at County Road 4020 which is located 4.4 miles south and 0.2 miles east of Shidler city limits in Osage County.

The vehicle “failed to negotiate the curve and crossed the centerline.” The vehicle then traveled approximately 159 feet, departed the roadway left approximately 180 feet and struck a ditch, before continuing approximately 69 feet east across County Road 4020. It came to a rest in the ditch.

Waters was transported by private vehicle to Fairfax Hospital in stable condition with a facial injury. One passgenger, 19-year-old Jarred Michael Mitchell of Pawnee, also was transported by private vehicle to Fairfax Hospital before being transferred by ambulance to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa in stable condition with a trunk internal injury.
