There will be no school the week of Monday-Friday, Nov. 21-25. Enjoy the week off for Thanksgiving.

On Monday, Nov. 28, we having a JOM meeting at 5 p.m. in the cafeteria.

Following the JOM meeting, there will be a Community Meeting to discuss our Title 1 program. This is a very important meeting and we need everyone to attend — including (but not limited to) parents, school board members, business owners, pastors, Osage Nation workers, counseling services, etc.

Title 1 is a federally-funded program to help schools improve low socio-economic and/or struggling students. We need input to assist us in redeveloping our school’s plan.

After conducted regular business at the November meeting, the Wynona Board of Trustees voted on an ordinance concerning the 25-year PSO franchise. The board passed a resolution setting a special election on the franchise for Feb. 14.

Board members also discussed water tower repairs. They voted for doing a small job to get the tower through the winter. The tower needs to be sandblasted and repainted, inside and out, but repairing the insulation on the standpipe is a necessity.

April Thompson from Hominy Ambulance presented the board with opt-out forms for people who live outside the city limits. Households choosing to opt out will be charged full price for ambulance service. Only households outside the town limits can opt out. It is still mandatory for in town limits.

Proposals for AFLAC insurance packages were presented to board members, but no one was interested.

Attending the meeting were Cody Codding and Clint Cotheran from AFLAC, Michael Gordon of PSO, Tonya Holt, Donna Swanner, Loretta Little, Goober Robinson, Nancy Deatherage, Johnnie Lott, Janet Delaney, Tennie Slone and April Thompson.

The next board of trustees regular meeting will be Tuesday, Dec. 20, at 7:30 p.m.

Ministries visited town twice in the past week to deliver delicious produce. We appreciate all the goodies and want to thank them for including us.
