SHIDLER CAR SHOW

The 13th-annual Car Show at Coussens Park in Shidler is slated from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27.

Dash plaques are being given to the event’s first 150 entries. Best of show awards will be presented at 3:30 p.m. There also are going to be door prizes and concessions provided by the Shidler Volunteer Fire Department.

PASTURES ON TOUR

An Osage County ranch is to be a stop for the Kay County Pasture Tour on Friday, Sept. 2.

After a 6 a.m. gathering at Osage Casino-Ponca City, the tourgoers’ caravan will head to Tower Hill Ranch, 5661 Foraker Road in Shilder for a working ranch horse demonstration from 7-8:30 a.m. Jessica Fettke and Tyler Thomas are to present a Native Range Talk from 9-9:45 a.m. at the Tower Hill’s ranch headquarters. Northeast Oklahoma’s Cooperative Extension Agronomist Specialist, Brian Pugh, will discuss using fire and grazing to manage and control invasive species.

From 11 a.m. to noon, genetic testing for commercial Angus heifer selection will be the topic as the tour moves to the Blubaugh Angus Ranch Sale Facility at 10375 South 44th St. in Tonkawa. Heifers that have been tested with Zoetis GeneMax Advantage are to be viewed and discussed. Following lunch, Blubaugh is to be the site for a “Timed Artificial Insemination” program. Bermuda Pasture Management will be discussed before the tour adjourns at 3 p.m.

SCHOLARSHIPS OFFERED

Pawhuska Hospital Auxiliary is accepting applications for health-career related scholarships which will be awarded for the fall semester.

Deadline is Sept. 12 to submit application forms, which are available at the Pawhuska Hospital. Completed applications can be returned to the hospital or to Dean Shoemate, Scholarship Chair, at 1330 Melody Lane, Pawhuska, OK 74056.

HOME SLATES SOCIAL

HOMINY — The Fred Drummond Home will host its annual Ice Cream Social and Fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 17, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Open house tours are to be offered for the regular admission fee (adults $3, 65 and older $2.50, children 6-18 $1). Items from the Drummond Heirloom Exhibit will be on display.

Children’s activities will include a Bouncy Jump Castle ($2 for kids 11 and under, $3 for those 12 and up). The jump runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., while most of the other activities will be from 1-4 p.m. In addition to ice cream, hot dogs will be on sale.

Several educational events are scheduled. Richard Heinrich will be giving a trick roping demonstration. The first 30 children to learn a trick receive their own rope to take home.

CONSTANTINE EVENTS

The movie “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” will be shown at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, at the Constantine Theater, 110 W. Main St.

Board members of the Constantine Arts Council are currently selling $10 chances in a drawing for an electric-powered Izip Low Step bike, which has a retail value of $1,600. The bike contest is is limited to 500 entries. A winner will be selected in a Saturday, Dec. 3, drawing at the theater,
