IN HER WORDS: Ward 2 candidate Susan Bayro

Pawhuska Journal-Capital

My name is Susan Bayro and I am announcing my candidacy for Pawhuska City Council Ward 2. I have lived in Pawhuska most of my life. My parents are Pam and Jesse Abrams. I am married to Michael Bayro and we have two wonderful children. I have a Master’s Degree in International Business with a Minor in Marketing. Currently, I am a Strategic Planning Analyst for the Osage Nation.

Since 2011, I have been fortunate to work at the Osage Nation and have been involved in projects that have collaborated with the City of Pawhuska. A few of these projects include:

Water & Waste Water Project:

· Water Capacity Development Program – A program provided by DEQ that provides training, technical assistance, and fiscal/managerial planning assistance in the following areas technical, managerial, and financial for our Water Production & Distribution department. The information provided by this program included various policy and procedure templates, planning templates, leak detection and meter analysis reports, and various other assistances.

· Indian Health Services (IHS) - Assists municipalities to provide adequate water supply and wastewater disposal facilities. Collaboration projects that I participated in include:

o Pawhuska Ground Storage Tank Rehabilitation – provided funds to renovate city storage tank

o Prudom Hill Sewer Main Replacement – provided funds to replace sewer main which was failing

o Potential project to collaborate with IHS to provide planning consultation and confer activities to provide new funding sources for water and wastewater infrastructure.

Economic Development:

· A project that is in development is to provide healthy mental and physical outdoor alternatives to citizens & visitors, increase traffic to the city and small businesses, and provide a venue for educational and family activities.

As a City Council member, my knowledge and experience will allow me to assist the City Council and the City Manager in development, improvement, and obtaining funding to move forward on developing and utilizing a Strategic Plan.
