Barnsdall fall sports programs get rolling

Cherokee Nation Health Services is offering an eyeglass program for all Cherokee Nation citizens to provide funding for a free examination and a $200 voucher to purchase eyeglasses if needed. The program is offered to all ages and is not income-based. The exam must be given at a Cherokee Nation Health facility to be eligible for the benefit. The program is available on a first-come, first-serve basis and will continue until funds are no longer available. For more information, go to 

This week, the Barnsdall High School and junior high softball teams are on the road, as they travel to two regular season games. The Lady Panthers will begin their week traveling to Oilton to play their Lady Panthers on Thursday, Aug. 26, and then will travel north to South Coffeyville on Tuesday, Aug. 31. All junior high games will begin at 4 p.m., followed by the high school games at 5:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

Additionally, the high school softball team is scheduled to participate in the Dewey Festival this weekend, starting on Friday, Aug. 27, and concluding with the championship game on Saturday, Aug. 28. Good luck, Lady Panthers! 

The Barnsdall High School football team will host its second scrimmage of the season, as the Panthers play Bartlesville Wesleyan on Thursday, Aug. 26. The scrimmage starts at 6 p.m. 

The Barnsdall Junior High Football team will play its first game of the season as the young men travel to Jennings on Monday, Aug. 30. All junior high football games will begin at 6:00 p.m.
