Week of April 29 to May 4

I hope everyone could take advantage of the free countywide Dump Day this past weekend, allowing for a jump start to spring cleaning around the house. We have had many April showers this past month, with temperatures rising to the mid-70s this week.

Barnsdall students will be participating in a virtual day this Friday, April 30.

The school year is coming to a close soon, with only two weeks remaining and various events scheduled to celebrate the Class of 2021 seniors, athletes, and students.

The baccalaureate is planned for 6 p.m. Sunday, May 2, at the Barnsdall Lower Gym, leading up to graduation at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 13, at the Bartlesville Community Center.

The All-Sports Banquet is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. May 11 on the football field. Additionally, the kindergarten graduation is planned for 8:15 a.m. May 13, followed by the first-grade through sixth-grade awards assembly at 9:30 a.m.

It is time to start finalizing summer plans, as there are many free educational opportunities to take advantage of for students in grades 8-12. The Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education will be offering 24 free Summer Academies at 16 college campuses across the state. Students will live on campus and experience college life while learning about and exploring science, technology, engineering, and math majors. Registration is open, and spaces fill up quickly, so register today at the following link, www.okhighered.org/summer-academies.

Tulsa Community College is also offering academic camps this summer for students of all ages. The camps will be offered both in-person and virtually. Students can register for a number of summer camps such as World Languages, Gaming & Coding, Arts and Literature, and STEM. All educational camps offer morning and afternoon sessions by a live instructor. For more information, visit the TCC College for Kids Facebook page or email ce@tulsacc.edu. You can also visit the TCC website and browse through the course catalog at https://www.tulsacc.edu/programs-courses/continuing-education/college-kids.

Barnsdall Public Schools will have a school board meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, May 3. Board meetings are held at the Elementary School Teacher Workroom unless otherwise noted. An agenda will be posted on the school website before the scheduled meeting.

The American Legion will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 6, for its regularly scheduled monthly meeting. All American Legion meetings are held downtown at the American Legion Building.

The Barnsdall Chamber of Commerce will meet on Tuesday, May 11, at noon, with lunch served for $5. Meetings are held at the Barnsdall Community Center. A full agenda will be emailed to all Chamber members later this week.
