The Barnsdall Chamber of Commerce held its monthly meeting and discussed several items on the agenda. The Chamber reported many Bigheart Day updates, as the planning committee is getting closer to finalizing its preparations for the event. Over $4,000 has been secured for the fireworks display and $9,000 secured from vendors. The Chamber is designing metal signs to display at the intersections around town to publicize the event. The trophies for the competitions have been ordered, and the parade wagons for the class reunion groups have been reserved.
The Chamber also discussed the Easter Egg hunt. There will be 1,000 eggs filled with candy and prize money to be divided among three age groups. The Easter Egg Hunt is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, April 3, at the high school football field.
Guest speaker Shawn Hamm, CFO for Nucera Solutions LLC, spoke to the chamber members about expanding the Barnsdall wax plant. He reported the plan would include hiring a new marketing director to assist in the further expansion and the expected growth in sales.
Also discussed at the Chamber was creating historical signs to be placed around town. The signs will be installed at different locations around Barnsdall, with property owners' permission. The next Chamber of Commerce meeting will be at noon Tuesday, April 13.
