Spring break coming soon for Barnsdall

Bigheart Day is fast approaching, and the planning committee is diligently working to provide a fun-filled day of activities. The day will center around the theme of education to celebrate Barnsdall's first graduating class. The committee met last Thursday to continue the work of preparing for the biggest weekend of Barnsdall's year.

If you are interested in volunteering to help plan and schedule activities for this event, contact Claud Rosendale at crosendale@windstream.net. The next planning committee meeting is scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday, March 13, at Hatfield's Grill. 

The American Legion will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 4, for its regularly scheduled monthly meeting. American Legion meetings are held at the American Legion Building downtown on Main Street.

Barnsdall Public Schools will have a school board meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, March 8. All board meetings are held in the Elementary School Teacher Workroom unless otherwise noted. An agenda will be posted on the school website before the meeting. 

The Barnsdall junior high track team will have its first track meet on Tuesday, March 9, at Caney Valley. The track meet events will begin at noon.   

The Barnsdall Chamber of Commerce will meet at noon Tuesday, March 9, with lunch served for $5. All meetings are held at the Barnsdall Community Center. A full agenda will be emailed to all Chamber members this week.

The high school baseball team will have a chance to defend its title in the Caney Valley tournament, scheduled for Tuesday, March 9. Please check the Baseball's Facebook page for a complete schedule of games. Good luck, Panthers! 

The junior high baseball team is ready for its first game of the season, as it travels to Woodland to play on Tuesday, March 9.   

Spring break is just around the corner, as Barnsdall Public Schools' last day before the break is Thursday, March 11. The students will enjoy a 10-day break and return to school on Monday, March 22.

Barnsdall Public Schools has rescheduled its centennial celebration of the first graduating class to March 11, the day before spring break.

As a reminder, the Osage Nation is hosting another virtual ACT/SAT Test Prep class on Wednesday, March 17 from 9 to 11 a.m., or 1 to 3 p.m.  If you are interested in more information or attending, please register by calling Avis Ballard or Chelsea Christian at 918-287-5300,or email education@osagenation-nsn.gov. All attendees will be eligible for door prizes.
