Susan Bayro campaigns for election to Pawhuska council

My name is Susan Bayro and I am announcing my candidacy for Pawhuska City Council, Ward 2. I have lived in Pawhuska most of my life. My parents are Pam and Jesse Abrams. I am married to Michael Bayro and we have two wonderful children. I have a Master’s degree in International Business with a minor in Marketing. Currently, I am a Strategic Planning Analyst for the Osage Nation.

Since 2011, I have been fortunate working at the Osage Nation and being involved in projects that have collaborated with City of Pawhuska to continue infrastructural and economic improvements that include:

• Smart Growth America – economic development and revitalization workshop through EPA for the City of Pawhuska which brought together city, state and local entities that focused on the issues and concerns that are facing the City of Pawhuska. From this discussion it produced the Smart Growth 101 Report and Suggested Next Steps, which could be used in conjunction with a City of Pawhuska Strategic Plan/Capital Improvement Plan.

• Water and Waste Water – through Indian Health Service (IHS), which provides assistance in the construction, improvement, installation, and rehabilitation of domestic water supply and wastewater disposal facilities – water tank and Pawhuska City Dam.

• Downtown Pawhuska Broadband Project – currently will offer enhanced broadband service for free for remote working, distance learning and telemedicine requirements.

My participation in these projects has allowed me to continue to improve the partnership between the Osage Nation and the City of Pawhuska. Coordinating with the City of Pawhuska, Osage County, Pawhuska Schools and the Osage Nation, I was able to produce a comprehensive list of issues and concerns that could be used to apply for grant funding.

As a City Council member, I will continue to pursue the improvement of relationships between the Osage Nation and City of Pawhuska. My background and experience will allow me to provide assistance to the City Council and the city manager in development, improvement and obtaining funding to move forward on developing and utilizing a strategic plan.
