Art Lee Von Henderson
Art Lee Von Henderson, 81, passed away Monday, January 27, 2020, in the Jane Phillips Medical Center, Bartlesville, OK.
Art was born May 9, 1938, in Nelagoney, OK, the son of Reges Don and Katie Elsina Henderson. On March 29, 1957, he married Argene Shook in Pawhuska, OK. Art worked for the Drummond Ranch, Charlie Carter and Hewlitt Brothers Ranch. He retired from Reda Pump in Bartlesville at the age of 55.
Art was an avid roper, team roper, and in his younger days, calf roper. He participated in the wild cow milking and chuckwagon races at the Cavalcade, winning several of the chuckwagon races. He had won 3 saddles over the years. He enjoyed playing dominoes and hearts. Art also loved to catch fish and, of course, eat the fish!
He is survived by: his wife, Argene of the home in Nelagoney; daughters, Kay Chambers of Nelagoney and Sharon Smith of Newkirk; grandchildren, Ronnie Smith, and Greg Smith and wife, Britney, of Ponca City; Kate Huddleston and husband, Jess, of Skiatook; and Lee Chambers and wife, Haylee, of Fairfax; great-grandchildren Kylee, Lynlee and Wylder Chambers, Jase Tom Huddleston, and Emmett and Briar Smith; along with several nieces and nephews.
Art was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ricky Lee Henderson; grandson, Will James Chambers; brother, R.D. Henderson, Jr.; and sister, Katie Corene Butcher.
Services will be held Friday, January 31, 2:00 p.m., at Kendrick McCartney Johnson Funeral Home, Pawhuska. Rev. Martin Witt will officiate. Interment will be in the AJ Powell Memorial Cemetery, Hominy.
