Two weeks until the big Christmas parade
Week of Wednesday, November 27
Students are enjoying their Thanksgiving break this week, as they are out of school for one full week. Students will start back to school on Monday, Dec. 2.
National Honor Society students will be decorating the town next week with Christmas lights and decorations on the front lawn of the Barnsdall Community Center. The students will be repairing the lights and preparing them to be hung on main street.
The National Honor Society, and Gifted and Talented Students, participated in the Professional Leadership Conference at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah this past week. We had eight students representing Barnsdall and all reported they had a great time and learned lots of teamwork and leadership skills.
Barnsdall High School Football wins again and advances to another round of the state playoffs. The team won against Gore last Friday, with a score of 29-26. The team will play against Cashion on Friday, Nov. 29. The game will be played in Barnsdall. Congratulations, boys!
The Barnsdall High School basketball games will be postponed another week while the Barnsdall football team continues on in the playoff games. The basketball team is scheduled to play Caney Valley on Dec. 3, but will only play if the football team does not win on Friday, Nov. 29.
The junior high basketball teams finished up the Pawhuska Tournament last weekend and will play its next two games at home. All junior high games will start at 5:30 p.m.
We are two weeks away from the Christmas in Barnsdall parade and ticket-drawing event. The parade will start at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, followed by Santa giving out treat bags in the Community Center. There will also be free hot dogs and hot chocolate provided by the Barnsdall Christian Church. Christmas music will be playing as the community waits in anticipation for the ticket drawing to begin at 7:15 p.m. There will be $3,700 given out in total from the seven tickets that will be drawn. You must be present to win. Please come out and enjoy an evening with the community and a chance at winning a cash prize. Shop Barnsdall for your chance to win.
There is still time to enter your float in the Christmas parade. If you would like to enter, please email Claud Rosendale at crosendale@windstream.net. There will be three cash awards for the top three floats. First place float wins $200, second place float wins $175 and third place float wins $150.
