Remember to shop Barnsdall for the upcoming holidays

BARNSDALL — It is that exciting time of the year to earn and collect those Christmas tickets as you shop locally in Barnsdall. All local businesses that are members of the Barnsdall Chamber of Commerce will be giving out one ticket per $10 you spend at their business. These tickets will be given out from Nov. 1 through Dec. 13. All tickets will be picked up on Dec. 13 to be put in the hopper for the drawing on Dec. 14. There will be $3,700 in prize money given away from the following businesses and business organizations:

$1,250—Baker Petrolite;

$1,000—Barnsdall Chamber of Commerce;

$500—Osage Casino;

$500—Enbridge;

$250—American Heritage Bank;

$100—Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory;

$100—Fast Al’s Upholstery.

Remember to shop local to help Barnsdall and to earn tickets for your chance at one or more of the seven cash drawings. You must be present at the drawing to win. If you have any questions, please contact Claud Rosendale, of the Barnsdall Chamber, at 918-847-2202.

The Veterans Day program is Mondahy, Nov. 11 at 1:30 p.m. in the lower high school gym. All veterans are invited to attend. There will be a slideshow recognizing our local veterans and their years of service. The community is also invited to attend this program to honor our local veterans. Parking in front of the high school is limited due to the construction at the school. For questions, please contact the high school at 918-847-2271.

The Barnsdall Chamber of Commerce will meet on Tuesday, Nov. 12 for their regularly scheduled monthly meeting at 12 noon. Lunch will be served and an agenda will be emailed out this Friday. Sun Ministries will be at this month’s chamber meeting to highlight their organization they have opened in downtown Barnsdall.

Congratulations to the Barnsdall High School football team as they have won their way into the playoffs. Barnsdall won 48 to 33 against the Woodland Cougars last Friday night. Barnsdall will play this Friday in their first round of the playoffs. Please check the school website and Facebook pages for game location and playoff bracket.

The sophomores will be receiving a copy of their PreACT scores this week. The students took the PreACT October 1 and will receive a detailed score report to take home to their parents. Students are able to use these test results as part of their application for Tri County Tech and concurrent enrollment when they apply for those programs in the spring. The detailed score report will include scores for each tested subject, course plan progression, career-interest inventory and suggestions for improvement.

Congratulations to the newly elected officers of the Barnsdall High School National Honor Society Chapter. These students will lead the NHS chapter for the current school year.

The National Honor Society officers and a group of Gifted and Talented students will be attending a high school leadership conference on Nov. 19 at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah. This conference will teach the students leadership skills and team building activities.
