Congratulations to Rhonda Blake, who has officially retired from Siggins Memorial Clinic after 38 years. The clinic will not be the same without her after so many years of seeing a familiar face when going to the doctor. We appreciate her dedication to the people of this community and to the clinic. We wish Rhonda a retirement filled with happiness, relaxation and lots of fun time with her grandbaby.

The Barnsdall High School National Honor Society Chapter will be meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 4, to plan their activities and goals for the year. The National Honor society consists of students who promote leadership, scholarship, service and character. There are nineteen students in NHS this year and we look forward to all they have to accomplish and the differences they will make this year for our community.

The school yearbooks have officially arrived on campus and have been handed out this past week to everyone who ordered one last year. There are still plenty of yearbooks left if you are interested in purchasing one for $45. The yearbook staff is also taking orders for this year’s book for the price of $38. The price of the yearbook will increase soon, so place your order now and save some money.

The homecoming activities are in full swing as this week’s activities are almost over. Students will be working each day on their class float and class poster in hopes to win first place. The winners of the class float, poster and class who participated the most in the homecoming themed dress up days will be announced at Friday night’s football game. Homecoming coronation is at 6:30 p.m. followed by the football game at 7 p.m.

There will be a dance in the gym after the high school football game on Friday, Sept. 6. The admission into the dance is $3 and is sponsored by the senior class. The dance will end at midnight.

The Barnsdall Chamber of Commerce meets next Tuesday, Sept. 10, at noon for its first meeting of the month. Lunch will be provided and an agenda will be emailed out this week. The chamber is starting to plan Trunk or Treat for Halloween, and the Christmas Parade. If you would like to help put these two events together, please contact Claud Rosendale or come to the monthly chamber meetings. The chamber would appreciate any help you can give in planning and working these events.

All students in junior high and high school have class dues to pay each year. These class dues help pay for homecoming floats, prom and class activities. If you have questions about your class dues, please see your class sponsor.

Barnsdall’s new FFA chapter will be taking the chapter’s officers to Oologah for a meeting on Sept. 10. All FFA members dues are $30 and this includes an FFA T-shirt.

Barnsdall High School has organized an archery club this year. If you are interested in being a part of the archery club, please contact Mr. Gann.

Midwest Sporting Goods will be here on Sept. 17 to take orders for letterman jackets. If you are interested in purchasing a letterman’s jacket, you must bring a $150 deposit to place an order.
