While Family Dollar Stores, Inc., recently made headlines nationally for plans to close nearly 400 stores in 2019, the news is markedly different in Pawhuska.

The company announced March 13 that it will hold a grand re-opening of its Pawhuska store on Saturday in a celebration that is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and continue until 1 p.m. The event will feature gift basket raffles, giveaways, free samples and family-fun entertainment, said company spokeswoman Heather Briganti.

Additionally, the first 50 customers at the Pawhuska Family Dollar Store on Saturday are to receive a gift card and a reusable shopping bag, Briganti said.

“Family Dollar is proud to be a part of the Pawhuska community, and we’re excited to welcome existing and new customers to our newly renovated store,” Briganti said. “In addition to providing everyday low prices and a broad assortment of merchandise, we have expanded our selection of food, beauty and essentials, household products and seasonal items. Our renovated store should provide even greater value and convenience to our shoppers.”

The Pawhuska store initially opened in 2006, Briganti said.
