BARNSDALL — Larry and Stephanie Holden expanded their business activity last August by going in an entirely different direction in terms of the service they offer.

The couple already owned a septic firm, called Holden’s Septic. In August, they bought a fitness center at 508 West Main St. in Barnsdall, which they call Tone UR Hyde. It’s a 24-hour workout center, so customers can choose the time of day they want to work on their personal fitness goals.

Customers swipe a card to gain access to the fitness center.

Stephanie Holden explains that she and Larry wanted to increase their income, and one reason the fitness center was a fit for them was that it was likely to be busy in the winter, when their septic service was less busy. Tone UR Hyde also turned out to be a welcome addition to the Holden family’s commitments because it makes working out easy and fun for the couple’s two teenage daughters, JoHanna and Abigail.

Stephanie Holden said Tone UR Hyde has customer visits at a variety of times of the day and night. There are some young adult men who work out at about 4-5 a.m., she said. Other customers come in during the afternoons.

Tone UR Hyde does not use long-term contracts, but it does offer potential customers a variety of deals. There’s a deal for students in Barnsdall Public Schools, a deal for teachers in the schools, you can buy a Winter Special, or there is something available for people with Medicare supplemental insurance.

Stephanie said the customer base for Tone UR Hyde is growing, and that includes an increasing number of older people.

“All the customers are wonderful,” she said. “I just love it.”

The business, which is housed in an old pharmacy building, has three tanning beds in addition to a variety of types of workout equipment. Stephanie said that she and Larry are planning to make improvements in the near term, by adding some new exercise machines. She also said that she hopes they can fix up a back room area at some point, so they can offer classes on health and fitness.

Tone UR Hyde has a Facebook page, and a website is in development. The number to call if you want to know more is 918-766-6892.
