Program focused on prairie animals
Summer Reading continues at Pawhuska Public Library. On June 29, library staff and volunteers presented stories and videos about prairie animals, and a craft, to a curious group of children and parents. Volunteers were Debbie and Ron Reed and Blythe Larrabee.
Volunteer Debbie Reed read the stories Prairie Chicken Little and Mattie’s Little Possum Pet and previewed books about bison. Ron Reed showed a video about prairie chickens and their dances. Blythe Larrabee taught the children how to make maracas, using a plastic egg, two spoons, tape and rice and beans. The library staff assisted with additional videos about prairie animals.
Summer Reading programs are scheduled each Friday through July 20, at 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Sponsors for Summer Reading are the Oklahoma Department of Libraries, the Institute of Museum and Library Services and Sonic Corp.
