Carson

Lifelong Pawhuska resident, Gary Edward Carson, passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2017, at St. John Medical Center, Tulsa, OK. He was 73 years old.

Gary was born November 15, 1943, in Pawhuska, OK. He was the son of Emmet Keen Carson and Adelia Anna (Grof) Carson. Surviving are his sister, Joanne Carson Smith and husband, Wayland Smith, Jr; his brother, David A. Carson and wife, Betty Reed Carson; and his sister, Virginia Carson Krenn. Gary had many nieces, nephews and cousins, all of whom loved him dearly.

He attended the Immaculate Conception Catholic School and Pawhuska High School. Gary served in the Oklahoma Army National Guard. He was a member of the Pawhuska Elks Lodge and the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. A self-employed welder, Gary practiced various other skilled crafts in Pawhuska throughout his life. A man of many talents, he was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener, and had a deep respect for nature in general.

Gary formed many enduring friendships throughout the years. He had a generous spirit and brightened the lives of all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held in Pawhuska at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Friday, August 25, 10:00 a.m. Father Sean Donovan will officiate. Interment will be in the Pawhuska City Cemetery.

Gary had a special affection for children. Any who wish may make a memorial contribution to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
