Osage Nation Prevention Office will be providing inflatables for students from 6-8 p.m. They will present an outdoor movie on an inflatable big screen beginning at 9 p.m. Make plans now to end the summer with this fun filled evening!

Where has the summer gone? The first day of school is Aug. 7.

Softball is now in full swing! Practice for the week of July 24- 28 is from 6-8 p.m. excluding Wednesday. The first game will be Aug. 7.

Enrollment will be in the junior high computer lab on: Tuesday-Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. During this time students may pick up their school supplies at the school. If you would like to purchase your own supplies, the list is in the main office, posted on the door and on Facebook, and at Cleveland and Bartlesville Wal-Mart.

We are proud to announce Wynona Students have a very small school supply list this year. This is due to the outstanding community members and businesses we have. We held a “Stuff the Bus” and collected school supplies and cash donations! We would like to say THANK YOU to Tolson Agency, Benson Lumber, American Heritage Bank, EW Oil Service, and all other patrons that donated cash or supplies! You guys are awesome!!

I would also like to give a SHOUT OUT to Lorrie Young for scheduling and sitting with “Stuff the Bus” on July 1.

Thank you Steve Holt for working on our leak in the elementary building!

Thank you David Parks for tilling our softball field.

Thank you Heidi and Lynzee Parker for assembling lockers.

Thank you Chris McCullough for assembling our new playground equipment.

Thank you Larry Dilley for ALL of your help you ALWAYS provide us with!

I would also like to thank Youth Works for all of the work they have helped our school with this summer.

Our custodian and office staff have been working very hard this summer! I’m very proud of them. We are making a lot of improvements thanks to our community members passing the bond in March. We now have carpet in the high school hallways and classrooms. Carpeted classrooms will provide a quieter atmosphere and a more conducive learning environment. New lockers have been installed in the high school building; all classrooms received new interactive projectors and whiteboards, i-Pads and or Chromebooks, kinesthetic seating and new playground equipment.

In addition to all of the building improvements, I would like to announce the addition of our new staff. Brant Tevebaugh will be our principal, junior high language arts teacher and basketball coach. Bobby Shoate is our junior high social studies teacher as well as softball and baseball coach. James Webb and Riley Shaw have been hired as elementary aids.

We are excited to start our new school year! We will see you soon, enjoy the rest of summer break!

Wynonans are saddened and offer their condolences to the many family members and friends of Andy Ikenberry, who died this past week. Andy was a Wynona alumni and had lived here most of his life. We will all miss Andy!

The Wynona Volunteer Fire Department is hosting a benefit for the family of Patricia Hollowell. She lost the fight with cancer on July 1. Jim Lott, her husband, is now facing all of the medical bills, in addition to the funeral expenses. He is one of our own and he needs help with this! The event will be held from 4-7 p.m. Jul7 29 in the Wynona Schools cafeteria. They will be serving hamburger/cheeseburger, chips, dessert and a drink for $5. There will also be a silent auction held during that time. If anyone would like to donate anything at all for the auction, please contact Lance at 918-694-2944 or Brandie at 918-637-7724. They will also be selling chances on pistol for $20 per chance. It will be available for viewing during the benefit. Come out and help us support one of our own firefighters and his family!!

The Wynona Board of Trustees met for the July meeting on July 18. In addition to regular business, the Board voted to advertise for bids on the patrol car that is no longer in use. It runs fine, it just isn’t needed with the new car we got from Enbridge. The Board discussed the complaints that had been coming in about dogs running loose, kids bullying at the park and people speeding through the residential areas and the highway. They agreed more police coverage is needed. Attending the meeting: Donna Swanner, Loretta Little, Della Carter, Nancy and Joe Deatherage, Janet Delaney and Tennie Slone. The next regular meeting will be held Aug 15.
