Freddie F. Dunn

Freddie F. Dunn, age 90, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at the Journey Home, Bartlesville, OK.

Fred was born March 24, 1926 in Elgin, KS, the son of Fred and Lila (Conklin) Dunn. A Veteran of the US Marine Corps, Fred served in the Pacific Area, where participated in action against the enemy at Iwo Jima, Volcano Islands, from February 20 to February 23, 1945. On February 23, he was wounded in action and was ultimately awarded the Purple Heart for his sacrifice.

On November 27, 1957, he married the former Ethel Carinder in Miami, OK. A lineman by trade, Fred was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Masonic Lodge and the Marine Corps League. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, visiting with friends at the coffee shop and spending time with his family.

Surviving family includes his wife, Ethel Dunn; Children Freddie Francis Dunn, II, Richard Dunn, Steven Dunn and wife, Debbie, Tracy Dunn and wife, Kelly, and Nikki Thompson and husband, Clint; sister Dora Deanne Alloway; 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Fred was preceded in death by his parents; sister Marie Betts; brother Amsi Dunn and grandson, Ricky Joe Dunn.

Services will be held Friday, December 16, 2:00PM, at the First Baptist Church of Pawhuska. Cliff Rogers will officiate, assisted by Pat Andrews. Interment will follow at the Elgin Cemetery, Elgin, KS. Graveside military honors will be presented by American Legion Post 198.
