Osage County tourism forum will be Friday
The Osage County Tourism Committee, Osage County Industrial Authority and Pawhuska Chamber of Commerce will host the inaugural tourism forum from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday at the Pawhuska Business Development Center, 1225 Virginia Short St.
The purpose of the forum is to discuss tourism as an economic driver for Osage County, receive input from interested stakeholders on ideas and suggested initiatives to drive additional travel and tourism to the County and develop shared goals related to tourism, according to Trish Kerkstra, of POSTOAK Lodge and Retreat.. Attractions, lodging, retail establishments and any interested parties are encouraged to attend, Kerkstra said.
The Osage County Tourism Committee will use information gathered at the forum to develop a strategic plan for the promotion of tourism. Kin Thompson, Assistant Professor at Northeastern State University and Program Coordinator for the School of Hospitality & Tourism, will facilitate the forum.
Thompson was awarded the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2016 Oklahoma Travel Industry Association Annual Redbud Awards by AAA Oklahoma. The award is designed to recognize a tourism professional who has spent decades working in and improving Oklahoma’s travel industry.
The Forum is free to attend but RSVP is requested. To RSVP, contact the Pawhuska Chamber of Commerce at firstname.lastname@example.org or (918) 287-1208.
