Pawhuska School calendar for 2016-2017

Classes start Aug. 17 for the Pawhuska Public School District.

Professional development days are scheduled for Thursday and Friday, Aug. 11-12, and Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 15-16, with a Back to School Night set for Tuesday night before classes begin on Wednesday.

There will be two weeks of school before the Labor Day holiday on Monday, Sept. 5. The first “No School” Friday of the year will be Sept. 23. Fall Break is to be Thursday and Friday, Oct. 20-21. Classes will be out the entire week — Monday through Friday — for Thanksgiving on Thursday, Nov. 24.

The first semester ends Friday, Dec.16, and Christmas Break follows for two weeks. In all, 79 days are to be taught during the initial semester.

Classes resume Monday. Jan. 2, for the second semester. School will be out for Martin Luther King Day on Monday, Jan. 16 and Presidents’ Day, Feb. 20.

Six Fridays — Jan. 27, Feb. 17, March 3, March 24, May 5 and May 12 — are scheduled as “Snow Days.” Another “No School” Friday on March 10 precedes the week of Spring Break, March 13-17. There also will be no school on Good Friday, April 14.

The second semester will end Thursday, May 18. Friday, May 19, is to be a professional development/teacher checkout day. Graduation ceremonies for the class of 2017 also are to be held Friday, May 19.
