Richard J. “Dick” Fashik, age 86, died June 17, 2016 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
He is survived by his four children, David, Patti, Nancy and Janice, three grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents and his brother, Allen Fashik.
Born to Ruth Cox Truelove and James Willis “Bill” Truelove on October 28, 1929, he grew up in the Great Depression and learned thrift and hard work at a young age, working as a bicycle messenger in Oklahoma City. Shortly after his 1947 graduation from Capitol Hill High School, he began his career in accounting at Mid-Continent News Co, in OKC. During retirement, he continued bookkeeping part-time, finally at Benson Lumber Company in Pawhuska until shortly before his death.
He enjoyed bowling, riding motorcycles, driving convertibles, restoring vintage automobiles, jazz and classical music, sunshine and hot weather. He was strongly patriotic and flew his American flag nearly every day. He firmly believed in doing his best in all things and tried to pass to his children the values of integrity, hard work, education and positive thinking.
A memorial gathering will be held Monday, July 4, 11:00AM, in the Aspen Room at the Post Oak Lodge, 5323 W. 31st St. N., Tulsa, OK. Lunch will follow.
