JOM Powow set April 30 at Hominy

The Osage Nation JOM Youth Powwow is scheduled April 30, at the Hominy High School Gymnasium.

Gourd dancing starts at 2 p.m. and supper is planned for 5 p.m. Princess coronation ceremonies are set for 6 p.m., and War Dance and other competitions begin around 7 p.m.

Gift-card prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in the Juniors (ages 6-12) and Teens (13-18) divisions. There also will be Tiny Tots competitions for the 1-through-5-year-olds. Categories include Straight/Traditional, Fancy/Grass, Cloth/Buckskin and Jingle/Fancy shawl.

Head Man Dancer is Mattheu Rector and Hailey Holloway will be Head Lady Dancer. Jeffrey Lookout is to be Head Singer. Head Young Man is Joseph Goodfox Jr. and Head Young Lady will be Pehan Red Corn.

Lance Harden and Gideon Goodeagle are serving as the co-masters of ceremonies. John Bighorse Jr. will be co-A.D. with Tim Lookout. Host gourd group will be the Osage Gourd Dancers.
