Retired Navy pilot to speak at banquet

Pawhuska High School’s 27th-annual Honors Banquet begins at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, March 7, in the Pawhuska Elks Lodge.

The event recognizes the academic achievements by students ranking in the top 10 percent of their PHS classes. Entertainment will be provided by pianist Lou Brock.

“Soaring to Success” is the theme of this year’s event. The featured speaker will be retired Navy Cmdr. William F. Wright, a 1970 PHS graduate who retired after 21 years as a military pilot. Since then, he has flown Southwest Airlines commercial jetliners for nearly 20 years.

Banquet tickets cost $8 per person and includes the cost of dinner. Tickets can be purchased at local school offices, the School Administration Building, the Tolson Agency, American Heritage Bank, the Pawhuska Chamber of Commerce office or from members of the honors banquet committee.

PHS honor students include: seniors Krista Butler, Stephanie Clifton, Gage Dagenais, Shelby Haught, Hannah Horn, Karissa Hughes, Trent Hughes, Keylee Kirk, Haley Mouser and Sarah Phillippi; juniors Johna Brazee, Laurel Culver, Madelyn Priest, Nathan Richardson and Tristen Tucker; sophomores Ashley Henley, Jade Jones, Hannah Laughlin, Devynn Mathes and Sidney Buchanan (Walker), and freshmen Blake Allen, Cassidi Hindman and Allison Richardson.
