Pawhuska mixed martial arts-fighter Chance “Black Eagle” Rencountre is returning to the cage Friday night at the Winstar World Casino and Resort.

The March 4 “Whacker Bill in Thackerville” will be broadcast live via satellite on the Spike TV Network. Rencountre’s 170-pound MMA opponent will be Justin Patterson of Arlington, Texas. The main event Friday pits bantamweights Joe Warren and Darrion Caldwell, with the Rencountre-Patterson welterweight fight listed atop the undercard.

Rencountre — a 2005 PHS graduate who is 8-1 following a loss in his most recent fight — has been training for the fight in California. He recently signed on with Bellator MMA, said to be one of the professional sport’s top promotional organizations.

“I feel like I’ve taken one more giant leap in my MMA career,” Rencountre said in a Jan. 22 post on his Facebook page.

Doors at Winstar’s Global Events Center will open at 5 p.m. The first fight is at 6 p.m. and TV coverage begins at 8. Ticket information can be found online at: (Thackerville is located south of Ardmore, near the Texas border, approximately 260 miles from Pawhuska.)

“I wanna give a big thanks to everyone that helped get me here,” said Rencountre, who earned All American honors as a junior college wrestler. “I can’t wait to see everyone fight night.”
