SCHOOL NEWS

(Submitted by Superintendent Shelley Shulanberger)

Because of budget cuts, Wynona School District will be using the following policy from its policy book: Wynona School District will provide transportation services to and from school for students in grades 1 through 12, whose homes are more than one and one-half (1 1/2) miles from the school attended by those students.” (We are sorry for any confusion this has caused.)

On Feb. 12, the Wynona high school basketball teams will be traveling to Webbers Falls for district games. The girls will play at 6:30 p.m. and boys play at 8 p.m.

Parent/Teacher conferences were being held Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 9-10, from 4-7 p.m.

We will not have school Feb. 15 as it is a scheduled snow day.

The Wynona athletic department would like to thank all the alumni for playing our high school teams last week. Thanks, also, to all the spectators that came and watched. It was a fun-filled night. The high school teams will be playing in districts at Webbers Fall on Friday. The cheerleaders will send them off with a pep assembly at 2 p.m. We wish them all the best of luck.

Our elementary team will play in Hominy on Saturday, Feb. 13, at 10:45 a.m.

The senior class is selling a McDouble, chips and a drink for $5 on Friday, Feb. 12.

KEEP WYNONA CLEAN

It has been brought up that people are throwing trash out of their vehicles, which is causing a lot of trash and debris to be on the streets in town. It is against the law to litter, so, if you see someone doing it, please ask them to stop.

OLD GLORY FLYING AGAIN

A year or so ago, the big tree in front of town hall fell down during a storm and took out the flagpole. Well, we finally got the flagpole fixed, and we’ve also put another one up at the Highway Park. Now that we have our flags flying again, it makes us feel really proud!
