“Soaring to Success” will be the theme for this year’s Pawhuska High School Honors Banquet, which will be held March 7.

The 27th-annual academic recognition event is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Pawhuska Elks Lodge. Tickets for the banquet cost $8 and are for sale at the school administration building, 1801 McKenzie St.

This year’s honors-banquet guest speaker will be retired Navy Cmdr. William F. Wright, a PHS graduate who flew military aircraft for 21 years and now is a pilot for Southwest Airlines. Wright — who has residences in Chicago and at Keystone Lake — is a son of Nelda and the late Fred Wright. His older brother, Bob (another Pawhuska grad) is a retired colonel from the U.S. Army. The Wrights have a sister, Vicky, who resides in Tulsa.
