A man whose apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound prompted his emergency flight to the hospital and a full-scale local investigation last week (Jan. 26) survived the ordeal with injuries much less severe than originally reported.
The unidentified 46-year-old reportedly sustained the wound while inside a 12th Street residence located several blocks east of Lynn Avenue. Taken by air ambulance to Tulsa’s Saint Francis Hospital, he was admitted in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the head. A subsequent examination determined that the wound was more superficial than originally suspected.
Hospital officials later listed the man in stable condition, adding that his life was not in danger and that he is expected to make a full recovery.
